Happy Friday

Another new baby trick: The boys can pull out their binkies and (with a lot of grunting and squealing/trial and error) can get it back into their mouths.

I’m on the lookout for new hats since the weather is cooling and their heads (Luca in particular) are huge! I have a huge head too. When I owned a motorcycle helmet, my helmet size was a large. Dominic’s was a medium. I wish I could get these for them so they would match the blabla Monkey and Bear dolls but they are for tiny infants.

Won't you be my neighbor?

My mom has an incredible ability to befriend strangers. If she had a Facebook account, she definitely would have over 500 friends. Instead she has an unorganized spiral index card notebook with phone numbers and addresses of random strangers that she meets on her travels.

A couple of years ago, my mom befriended our Vietnamese neighbors down the street and ever since then has kept in touch with them. On her afternoon walk with Luca, she returned with a gift from their amazing garden. Can you believe the size of this thing?!? My mom and Dominic made a delicious stir-fry with the squash and beef while the twins watched from their bouncers.

Like weeds

I can’t believe his eyes are still blue. I hope they stay that way.

The babies are growing like weeds and can do new tricks! Luca can grab his toes. Milo can sit up for a short period of time. Both babies are teething (and drooling) like crazy. It’s funny how I will run out and buy this new vibrating toy and that soothing chill toys but the twins don’t care for either. Their favorite thing to chew: my fingers! Grandma Pham says Milo takes after her: he’s very chatty. I love hearing their sweet voices even when it’s gibberish.

Grandma Pham comes to town

Grandma & Luca
Grandma & Milo

Grandma Pham is visiting for 12 glorious days. Now that the babies are closer in size and plumpness, she honestly cannot tell the babies apart...or she just can’t remember and takes a chance and throws a name out there. On Saturday, Penny Layne watched the babies and the adults went to see Jean Pierre’s Jeunet’s Micmacs. AMAZING! It was such a fast-paced, funny and charming movie! I have to rent it so I can take in every beautiful detail. With an hour to kill, we stopped by the carts on Hawthorne and 12th and feasted on Potato Champion’s fries.

Week 2

Blog entry “Week #1“ does not exist because Week #1 was too hectic. Since then, I’ve returned to work and Dominic has taken over as Mr. Mom. Mr. Dom Mom. The transition was pretty smooth as the babies are both still alive and smiling. As a new mom, I find myself excited to bike home—no side trips to the grocery store, clothing store or pet store. Straight home in 25 minutes flat.

On a side note, we’d like to say Happy Birthday to our nanny, Penny Layne. She is the best! Penny Layne helps us maintain our sanity and backs by babysitting three times a week while we take a much needed break.  Happy Parents = Happy Babies. She also sends lovely texts like this one, which I got on my first day back at work. Very thoughtful as I did miss seeing my little boys.
