Delicious Deductibles

The other day, Dominic meant to say “delicious delectables” as he was describing the babies. He slipped and said “delicious deductibles” instead and since they were born on Tax Day, the nickname has stuck. In our house, this type of verbal slip-up is called a “bubbyism” (which is dedicated to my sister’s hilarious choice of words when there is a malfunction somewhere between her brain and her tongue).

Life has been amazingly delicious since I’ve finished a very intense work project (even though I’m still feverishly doing layouts in my sleep). It has been so nice to slide back into my simple and peaceful life. Sprinkle some Portland summer on top and I’d say life is pretty perfect.

I went against Dominic’s advice and got our babies a cheap $6.99 kiddie pool at Babies R Us. My rationale is we’ll use it for more than one summer and it will NOT go in a landfill. We’ll pass it on to another green family. I was so giddy to get them in their first pool and the babies thanked me with smiles and happy giggles.

Here is my failed attempt at trying to protect their beautiful little faces from the sun.

Luca was in tears when pool time ended.

Instamatic Magic

I miss my family. Work has been hairy so I see the babies for only an hour in the morning. By the time I get home, the house is quiet and dreaming away. Wah! Dominic has been sending me lovely snapshots of their day together. It makes me smile.
