Saturday evening owie

As the day went on, Luca’s thumb got more plump and the red coloration grew. It was Date Night and our nanny was late. I checked my messages and realized she had cancelled five days earlier! Damn. Dominic could sense that I was anxious, worried and nervous. He decided we would go to the hospital as a family. He is always so considerate! We ended up spending two hours in the waiting area and another two in the treatment room. I hate hospitals.

We went to Emanuel Children’s Hospital. You would think based on the furniture, toys and interior design we stepped into a chic playground. The space was really well designed with colorful illustrations, displays and cool furniture.

Sidenote: Children have such an amazing sense of exploration and play! Milo and Luca had no idea why we were at the ER and just enjoyed every minute of playing together as we waited to be called back.

Saturday morning owie

One of my favorite things to do as a parent is to spend the morning dedicated to one child. This Saturday, I was suppose to have Mommy & Milo time. Unfortunately, Luca ended up with an infected, thumb from last week’s berry picking adventure and I ended up taking him to the pediatrician. The kind doctor tried to remove the tiny thorns but wasn’t sure she got it out. She was concerned that we would be ending up at the ER and recommended we keep an eye on the red coloration. Afterwards, Luca and I enjoyed a croissant (his pick) from Grand Central Bakery. He was a bit surprised when it disappeared all of a sudden.

Berry Picking

It’s outings like this that make me really love Portland. Here we are doing our first berry-picking at Sauvie Island Farms.

Summer

Summer arrived exactly on the 4th of July (stupid Portland weather). Here is us celebrating it’s arrival with lots of diaper-only time and swimming at Sellwood Pool.

Making mountains out of molehills

I threw every pillow that we had onto the floor and covered it with a comforter so the boys could jump safely around the living room. Of course in twin-like fashion, they fought for the summit. Milo won the battle(s) by throwing his small plump body flat on the cushion and feverishly screaming to claim his territory. Luca couldn’t compete with Milo’s tactics and speed which makes us laugh because he is the taller, bigger toddler. He just doesn’t realize his physical advantages—yet.

Milo is King of the World.

July 4th Holiday

Our SF bff is here visiting for the July 4th holiday. The boys love him and call him “Bi-an”. Luca instantly showed Brian his favorite trick of spinning around and around with his head looking up at the ceiling.

The Por Que No waitress messed up an order and asked if we wanted a free margarita. Um, hell yeah!
Afterwards we stopped by the new Salt & Straw stand on Division. We all scream for ice cream!

Padramas

That’s how Milo and Luca pronounce pajamas. Truth be known there is sometimes drama involved when getting them in or out of their PJs.

Zoo

We went to the Portland Zoo for the first time this weekend. My personal favorite part of the visit was the train ride. The following morning when I went to get Milo out of his crib, I asked him if he remembered our trip to the zoo. He said, “Goat. Goat.”

As we were leaving, Milo bent down to pick up this bronze sculpture so he could bring it with us.
